State Testing Continues was featured in "Spotlight on the Schools" article in the April 17, 2025, E-Edition of The Independent Herald on page 26 & 27.
Schools across the state of Tennessee started their TCAP testing this week, and the Scott County School District was no exception. Students in each of the county’s schools had a variety of TCAP kickoffs to encourage students to do their best each day of testing and try to relieve some of the testing anxiety that is often associated with end of the year assessments.
Families were invited to attend Fairview’s Math Madness event to review math skills. They also held a Glow Party the week before testing began. Students in Hannah King’s ELA classes at Burchfield asked their parents to come to school for an “Are You Smarter Than a Third Grader?” competition. The school also hosted a celebration in the gym for the students with games and prizes. Principal Rachel Lay at Huntsville Middle School wrote positive affirmations around the school building. Huntsville Elementary staff and students performed at their TCAP pep rally, and several staff members dressed up in inflatables for the ultimate TCAP kickoff race. Winfield Elementary School students taped their SRO Shane Blevins to the wall during their TCAP pep rally. Robbins Elementary students were reminded of being an award school for the 2023-2024 school year and are hoping for a repeat.
Students in grades 3-8 will continue testing during the week of April 21. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
