A Salute to the Seniors featured in "Spotlight on the Schools" article in the May 15, 2025, E-Edition of The Independent Herald on pages 22-23.
On the first Friday in May, Scott High School's 2025 graduating class made history by being the first group of seniors to hold their graduation ceremony on the school's new turf football field. Family and friends of the nearly 150 seniors spilled out of the bleachers and lined the fence to celebrate the class's honors and achievements.
Principal Jeremy Hamby was joined on the field by assistant principals Eric Henry and Morgan Boyatt, along with guidance counselors Anna Bates and Summer Wilkins, Director of Schools Bill Hall, and members of the Scott County School Board. After an opening prayer from senior Dustin Pennington, Jr., class valedictorians Scarlett Wells and Avery Miller addressed the crowd. Diplomas were handed out, and Principal Hamby announced that 340 scholarships totaling $1.7 million dollars were awarded to the graduates.
