The Scott High Highlanders battled for a thrilling 15–14 victory over McCreary Central on Friday, August 23, to claim the UCB Border Bowl title.

With just over a minute left in the game, Gage Privett broke free for an 8-yard touchdown run, giving the Highlanders the lead. The play sparked some suspense when it was initially ruled a fumble, but after review, the touchdown stood and secured the one-point win.

Several Highlanders delivered standout performances in the win. Michael Bond, who was named Player of the Game, contributed nearly 100 total yards of offense that included 56 rushing yards and 37 receiving yards. On the defensive side, Braxton Potter earned Lineman of the Game honors after delivering back-to-back sacks late in the contest. His tackles for loss produced a safety that shifted momentum in favor of the Highlanders and kept McCreary County on its heels.

The energy in Highlander Country was undeniable, fueled by the “Coonskin Crazies” student section, who packed the stands for a blackout theme and kept the stadium electric from start to finish.

The hard-fought victory not only brings home the Border Bowl trophy but also gives Scott High strong momentum heading into the rest of the season.
