Christmas Concerts held at Burchfield and Huntsville Middle School were featured in "Spotlight on the Schools" article in the December 19, 2024, E-Edition of the Independent Herald on page 16.
The Burchfield School Band had their Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 PM. The 5th grade Beginning Band and 6th-8th grade Advanced Band played to a packed gymnasium with a selection of traditional band music and holiday favorites. The program also included a special guest performance by Scott County’s community flute choir, Wildwood Flutes, directed by Ashlee Glaspy. Two of Burchfield’s flute players, Tori Kidd and Hazel Hutson are members of the flute choir, which performs a very challenging repertoire. During the concert, Burchfield’s longtime band director Mr. Cole Hunt acknowledged a group of students who recently represented Scott County in the ETSBOA Jr. Band Clinic. These students auditioned against hundreds of other East Tennessee middle school musicians for a limited number of spots in one of three honor bands (Gold, Silver, Bronze).
Burchfield's honor band musicians were as follows:
Jolene Chitwood - 18th Chair Clarinet, Silver Band
Tori Kidd - 12th Chair Flute, Silver Band
Paige Allen - 4th Chair Alto Saxophone, Silver Band
Arabelle Ressler - 2nd Chair Tuba, Gold Band
Huntsville Middle School Band recently held its annual Christmas band concert, inviting family and friends to join in celebrating the holiday season through music. The concert featured a delightful mix of holiday tunes, carefully selected to bring joy and cheer to all who attended. Under the talented direction of our dedicated band teacher, Mrs. Micah Phillips, students showcased their hard work and musical abilities, creating a festive atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. We are incredibly proud of our students for their performance and grateful for the wonderful job Mrs. Micah does in fostering their musical growth and passion. The concert was a heartwarming reminder of the spirit of the season and the power of music to bring people together.
