SHS Highlander: Hailey Butler takes 1st Place at the Eastern Region Public Speaking Contest

Congratulations to Hailey Butler for winning 1st Place on her Prepared Speech and 1st Place Overall today in the 12th Grade division at the Eastern Region Public Speaking Contest!!
Hailey Butler’s journey in 4-H has been marked by gratitude, growth, and a deep appreciation for agriculture and leadership. Through Tennessee 4-H, Hailey has gained invaluable skills and opportunities that have prepared her to be truly #4HBeyondReady, while allowing her to share her story on both state and national stages.
One of the most meaningful highlights of her 4-H experience was representing Tennessee 4-H and National 4-H at the 2026 American Farm Bureau Federation Convention in Anaheim, California. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allowed Hailey to travel, network, and gain valuable insight into agricultural industries across the United States. Alongside fellow Tennessee 4-H State Council members, she worked at the National 4-H Council booth, engaging with attendees and sharing the impact of 4-H with agricultural leaders from across the country.
During the convention, Hailey had the opportunity to meet with influential leaders, including Jill Bramble, President and CEO of National 4-H Council, Dr. Martha Bernadett, Dr. Bo Ryles, and Eric Mayberry, President of Tennessee Farm Bureau. She also interacted with national leaders such as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Stephen Vaden, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, and U.S. Senator John Boozman, among many others. These experiences broadened her understanding of agriculture and reinforced the importance of youth leadership in shaping the future of the industry.
Hailey credits this experience and her success in 4-H to the unwavering support of Scott County Extension, Tennessee Farm Bureau, the Tennessee 4-H State Council, and her parents. Above all, she expresses gratitude to her faith, acknowledging God for guiding her path and allowing her to be part of such an impactful organization. Hailey will forever cherish the opportunities 4-H has provided and the lessons that will continue to guide her beyond the program.
Way to go Hailey and good luck when you represent Scott County and East Tennessee in the state contest next month at Tennessee 4-H Congress!
