Scott County Schools Nursing Supervisor, Rosemary Jeffers, addresses Sickness and Schools featured in "Spotlight on the Schools" article in the January 9, 2025, E-Edition of The Independent Herald on page 27.
Parents, PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL SICK!!!
The School Nurses would like to welcome everyone back to school. This time of year, there are so many viruses circulating we hope to share some information to hopefully prevent illnesses and keep everyone healthy.
- If your child is under a physician’s care for illness, please follow their instructions.
- If your child is sick, please do not send your child to school until they are fever free for a minimum of 24hrs without medication and their symptoms are improving.
- Do not send your child to school if they are vomiting or have diarrhea until it has stopped for at least 24hrs without medication.
- Please encourage good handwashing in your families.
- Stay well hydrated and rested.
- STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK.
The school nurses along with East Tennessee Children’s Hospital can provide a telehealth visit for your child if they get sick at school. Testing for flu, strep and covid can be provided with your permission. For more information and to register your child go to the Scott County Schools link for telehealth.
Please contact your child’s school nurse for more information.
Have a great 2025!
