Thank You, School Board featured in "Spotlight on the Schools" article in the January 30, 2025, E-Edition of The Independent Herald on page 22.
January 26th - February 1st is School Board Appreciation Week. This is a great time to focus on the crucial role an elected school board member plays in our community and schools. Our school board members a extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing our school district. “School Boards: Leading with Vision, Serving with Purpose” is the theme of this year’s mindset for School Board Appreciation Week. The Scott County School System joins districts across the state to celebrate and honor our board members for the role they play in building a future for our students, championing and advocating for quality education.
“We are very proud of the job our school board members do and their commitment to our teachers and students,” Director of Schools Bill Hall said. “Their decisions and actions effect the present and future lives of our children.”
The current members of the Scott County School Board are Chairman Llew Stanley (6th district), Vice Chairman Tommy Silcox (1st district), Diane Smith (2nd district), Chris Shelton (3rd district), Kim Kidd (4th district), Angela King (5th district), and Dr. Tressa Murphy (7th district).
